Through the chronological axis and accompanying textual and audiovisual material, users have the opportunity to focus on the information that interests them, thus designing their own journey.

RIGAS CHARTA

Rigas Velestinlis’ “Charta,” a landmark map of the Greek Enlightenment and Greek cartography of the 18th century, is revealed through the augmented reality (AR) application, which brings to life 15 symbols of the map in three-dimensional form. The application works exclusively in the Onassis Library through a mobile device (tablet) in conjunction with the historical artifact of the “Charta” in printed or digital form and encourages the user to decode and understand the messages that Rigas wanted to convey to the Greeks about freedom, justice, equality, and revolution.

TYPOGRAPHIC MARKS

The digital application of printers’ marks encourages users to learn about the history of significant Greek publishing houses founded in Venice by printers from Ioannina (17th–19th centuries). Using the Artivive application, wild bees, double-headed eagles, and two-tailed mermaids come to life on our mobile device screens, spreading the message of freedom.
