Subject
First and apparently only edition. In this very interesting work Lethaby and Swainson
discuss every aspect of the building of Saint Sophia, from furnishings to mosaics to
glass to plaster, and so forth. They also use information supplied by travellers. Lethaby
was an architect, and first professor of design at the Royal College of Art; he was
much influenced by William Morris and Philip Webb, and exercised an important influence
on later architects. This copy comes from the library of Henry Myron Blackmer,
but it was not included in the Blackmer Catalogue.
