Seventh edition of this important work, which brought the Crusades back into French historiography, but the first with Bréholles’ appendix. Part I, on the first Crusade, was published in 1812. Michaud’s history of the Crusades took its final form in 1838, in six volumes, just before his death in 1839. The sixth edition, 1841, was edited by his secretary and travelling companion Poujoulat (q.v.). Michaud also produced Bibliothèque des Croisades, 1829, which contains European and Arabic sources on the Crusades.
